Cocowalk is a legendary lifestyle retail center in the heart of Coconut Grove in Miami, Florida.  The joint venture between Grass River, Federal Realty and The Comras Company purchased the center in 2015.  The redevelopment focused on transitioning the project from a tired retail center that catered mainly to tourists to a mixed-use project that caters mainly to those that live and work in Coconut Grove.  After considerable study a thorough top to bottom renovation was agreed upon with the addition of a state-of-the-art office building built above the existing parking garage.  This involved selected demolition, buy-out of existing tenants, careful structural coordination and maintaining the center’s operations while under construction.  Open in late 2020 the center has exceeded expectations with respect to the tenant mix – both office and retail – as well as the physical environment that has successfully turned into the “living room” of Coconut Grove.

Role:  As Principal for Grass River Property sourced the design, legal and leasing teams and provided oversight of these consultants throughout the design/development phases. Assisted in acquiring, securing JV partnership at the outset of the project.  Responsible for the full development and leasing oversight of the new 85,000sf Class A office building.
