Walsh, Higgins & Company was selected by the University to design, finance and construct a $175 million mixed use complex in the heart of their urban campus.  Teaming with VOA Associates and Marriott Hotels the 202- room hotel, 45,000 square foot conference center, 500-car underground parking garage and mid rise office building was creatively designed to bridge the east and west campuses and to address the vernacular of the existing buildings on campus.

Role: As Vice President of Acquisitions for the company, Roth was responsible for procuring the assignment which included forming the team of architects, contractors, hotel/conference center operators and specialized consultants and creating the technical design solution that best responded to the University’s criteria.  While a low cost financing solution was proposed using tax exempt bonds, the University decided to finance the project through a bond issue and own the project in its entirety.  Walsh, Higgins executed the project it had put forth in a role as Development Manager.
